Casper construction and materials used
The top layer of the 11-inch Casper Original mattress is Casper’s open-cell Airscape foam, which promotes ventilation for cooling. The zoned support layer gives extra firmness where your body needs extra support: under the hips, waist, and lower back. It is very cleverly softer under the shoulders for pressure relief. This rests on a dense foam base for additional support.
The 12-inch Casper Hybrid mattress has the same layers as the Casper Original, except the high-density foam base is replaced with individually-wrapped coils. There is also a foam edge for extra support.
Leesa construction and materials used
The all-foam Leesa Original has a ten-inch profile. It has a six-inch support base of high-density foam, two inches of transitional memory foam, and a top layer of their proprietary LSA200 foam, which provides noteworthy responsiveness. This foam has open-cell construction for breathability.
The Leesa Hybrid is an 11-inch mattress, with over 1000 pocketed coils, resting on top of a thin support base of high-density foam. On top of these six-inch coils is a thin transitional layer of memory foam and 1.5 inches of Leesa’s premium open-cell foam as the main comfort layer.
Mattress delivery
Casper offers free delivery and free returns to 48 contiguous United States and most of Canada. There is also a white-glove delivery service available at a fee. Casper mattresses usually ship between one and two business days from the date you place your order and shipping estimates may vary, but mattresses usually arrive between three and five business days thereafter.
These mattresses arrive compressed, wrapped in plastic, and rolled into a cardboard box. This can be a little heavy for one person, but most people won’t have any problem with the unboxing process, which is really quick and easy. It will take a couple of hours to fully expand.
Similarly, Leesa’s mattresses usually arrive around six business days from the date they leave the Leesa warehouse. This isn’t commonplace amongst designs in the industry and so has some benefits for anyone worried about striking the right balance of support and pressure relief.
The Leesa is not to be overlooked, however. The incredible bounce of their signature foam makes this an affordable mattress with a latex-like feel – something which will have a special allure for anyone looking to break from traditional memory foam mattress.

The Casper – The firmness ratings of both Casper mattresses will be a match for most people. The Casper Original is right in the middle as a medium. The Casper Hybrid is about a medium too, but with maybe an edge of softness which will act as a slight differentiator with the Leesa Hybrid. Of course, the zoning of the foam on both mattresses will give firm support around the waist and hips, whilst the shoulder region is afforded a bit of extra softness.
The Leesa – The Leesa Original is a medium and is also accommodating for most sleepers. The Leesa Hybrid is the firmest of all four models in this comparison, coming in at a medium to medium-firm. This is great for anyone who looks to firmness for support as a back or stomach sleeper.
Which mattress is more suitable for couples and sex?
Casper and Leesa are, again, rather evenly matched on the question of sex. The commonly-accepted standard for sex is responsiveness, with couples appreciating mattress materials which react quickly to motion and help them to move with ease between positions and across the surface of the bed.
The hybrid models have the slight upper hand here for the bounce afforded by their springs, but the responsiveness of the foams contribute here too. The latex quality of Leesa’s proprietary foam gives it a slight edge over the Casper if you are looking for responsiveness. However, it is worth noting that the zoned layer of the Casper mattresses gives support to the combined weight of couples, so you will need to balance your priorities here.
Motion isolation and noise
Casper – Both the Casper Original and the Casper Hybrid are excellent at absorbing motion and both are also equally silent. We were very impressed by the results here and, if you are a light sleeper, this will factor high in your considerations as you shop for your next mattress.
Leesa – You wouldn’t think a responsive mattress like the Leesa Original would be good at motion isolation – but it is. It is excellent, in fact, and almost silent, which makes it a good choice for light sleepers. We detected slight motion transfer and sound upon movement on the Leesa Hybrid. While its performance here was good, the other mattresses in this comparison outshone it slightly on this front.
Body types and pressure relief
The Casper – The Casper Original is made for petite and average-sized people across all sleeping preferences. The Casper Hybrid, on the other hand, is suitable for all body types and all sleeping positions. Your weight will determine your experience of the mattress, with petite individuals finding mattresses firmer and heavier people finding mattresses softer. The zoning of both mattresses hits the sweet spot for most people’s needs around pressure relief, keeping even petite side sleepers comfortable on their hips and shoulders. If you are a side sleeper worried about pressure relief, the Casper Hybrid is the softest mattress across the four in this comparison and is especially pressure relieving for your sleep type.
The Leesa – The Leesa Original is especially suited to petite and average-sized people across all sleeping positions. Their signature foam contributes to the pressure relieving properties of the mattress, which is great on shoulders and hips for side sleepers. Edge support
Edge support will only really come into play for anyone who sleeps right on the edge of the bed at night – something couples in smaller beds tend to worry about more than anyone else. When it comes to edge support, the all-foam Leesa Original and Casper Original offer average edge support. It is not particularly outstanding and, while it probably won’t be the deciding factor for your mattress choice, is something to think about if you are sensitive to these things.
The hybrid models are significantly better. The Leesa Hybrid has the best edge support between the two despite the Casper Hybrid’s additional foam support around the coils of the bed.
Temperature regulation
All four mattresses in this comparison are temperature neutral. What this means is the average person should not overheat during the night on these mattresses. All-foam mattresses can feel warmer because they can trap heat but, in these mattresses, most people won’t experience excessive warmth on these models.

Durability and longevity
Hybrid mattresses tend to outlast their all-foam counterparts and are, as a general rule, the better choice for durability. We were very impressed by the level of craftsmanship which we observed in these mattresses. They have evidently been made to a high standard from high-quality materials.
We expect most people will get about seven years of good use from all of these mattresses – possibly slightly longer. Both companies offer a ten-year warranty, which is a good sign of quality here.
However, on having a look online for customer comments around longevity, we did encounter a few reports on wear and tear of mattresses which fell short of customer expectations. We found complaints of sagging with the Leesa and sagging, curling up of the sides, and denting with the Casper. We recommend familiarizing yourself with the warranty terms and returns policies of the company to keep yourself informed should your mattress age prematurely.
Bed base
Leesa recommends a solid, strong frame with their mattresses. Both companies caution that a box spring should be avoided with their mattresses. Casper recommends an adjustable frame, solid platform base, or a slatted bed frame with 1.5-inch slats spaced no more than four inches apart.
